Blockopedia is a specialist wood block, textile and craft supply business based in South East Queensland, Australia. The reason for Blockopedia is simple… they live their lives this way. They get to work and play with fabrics and wood blocks as part of their lifestyle. Taking design inspiration from our Oceanic environment and heritage, they work closely with artisans in Rajasthan, India to collaboratively produce ranges of ethically sourced hand carved wood blocks, and unique block and mud printed fabrics.

 

Block printing is so much fun and guaranteed to enrich your creative desire to print everything!  Once you have mastered the basic skills there will be no stopping you!!

Tutor: Denise Tamou – Textile Artist and Tutor – this workshop is suitable for everyone.

Date: Sunday November 4, 1pm – 3pm

Project: In our basic block printing workshop you will achieve the following skills & outcomes:

– Preparing  your fabric and paint for printing,

– How to hold and apply pressure to achieve the optimum print,

– How to design unique patterns with standard printing blocks,

– Learn colour theory and blending with basic colours,

– Post printing care of fabric items and printing blocks,

Take home your own unique pieces of block printed fabric, Blockpedia Calico apron and Cotton Tea towel or Calico Drawstring

Cost:  Gympie Craft Spectacular Special Price: $ 35 – includes cotton cloth for printing, the use of wooden printing blocks, fabric paint and other equipment, plus a Blockpedia Calico apron, and Cotton Tea towel or Calico Drawstring

What to bring: a desire to have a lot of fun!  Everything is supplied but you might want to wear a pair of comfy shoes as there is a fair bit of standing in this workshop.
