WILD BASKETS – the joy of making a basket using materials collected from the natural environment is both satisfying and exciting. You will be filled with pride as you admire your own handmade basket and the joy you can experience when you give a basket you have made, filled with homemade goodies. In this workshop, you will be using materials that have been sourced from the garden, and vines collected from revegetation and clearing sites. As well as making a large basket, you will learn how to collect, prepare and store organic weaving materials and how to make and create many styles of baskets using endless types of readily available resources – all materials will be supplied for this workshop.

 

SILK BASKETS – an exciting workshop with textile artist Pauline Amor – catch her passion, as you create a beautiful basket using brightly coloured Sari silks and silk threads. Your choice of colours and threads from the materials provided… just bring a thimble if you have one. You will be given the Instructions to take home.  Maximum 10 students per class.

  

PLANT PRESENTS – Plane Smiles – Grow Laughter – Harvest Love – take your imagination on little journey and create living gifts with Claudia! Perfect and lasting gifts of love.

 

RAG RUGS – using salvaged materials, create a gorgeous rug or placemat… what a way to use all those discarded and colourful scraps, unwanted fabrics and old sheets! 

 

KNOT JUST KNITTING : Prudence Mapstone – Fibre artist and renowned queen of freeform knitting, crochet, and yarn manipulation, Prudence is sought after as a tutor nationally and internationally. With Prudence, work with a coordinated colour palette, a cacophony of mixed yarns, styles and stitches to create quirky freeform shapes – and no two will be the same! – that will ultimately piece together to create a unified and stunning fabric. An unmissable opportunity!

 

SCRAPBOOKING – with the Vintage Chicks, masters of the art of scrapbooking – a 2-hour class filled with fun as you create your own masterpieces

 

BLOCKOPEDIA – with Denise Tamou – Textile Artist and Tutor. Block printing is so much fun and guaranteed to enrich your creative desire to print everything!  Once you have mastered the basic skills there will be no stopping you!! In our basic block printing workshop you will achieve the following skills & outcomes: Preparing  your fabric and paint for printing; How to hold and apply pressure to achieve the optimum print; How to design unique patterns with standard printing blocks; Learn colour theory and blending with basic colours; Post printing care of fabric items and printing blocks; Taking home your own unique pieces of block printed fabric, apron and selected project. This workshop is suitable for everyone – no experience required. 

Inclusions: Cotton cloth for printing; Blockopedia Calico Apron; Cotton Tea towel or Calico Drawstring; Use of wooden printing blocks, fabric paint and other equipment

What to bring: A desire to have a lot of fun!  Everything is supplied but you might want to wear a pair of comfy shoes as there is a fair bit of standing in this workshop.
